Known throughout the world as “Little Athens“, the historic center of the 1200s is full of numerous monuments. From the central square, where you can sip delicious cocktails, various alleys branch off dotted with numerous restaurants, trattorias and art galleries.

From the square we can admire the Cathedral of San Martino with its bell tower, attributed to Michelangelo, the church of Sant’Agostino with the adjoining Kiosk and Museum of Sketches. The squares and streets are adorned with works by famous artists such as Adami, Cascella, Folon, Botero, Mitoraj, Kan Yasuda, many of whom decided to settle here and received honorary citizenship, such as the famous director Alfonso Cuaròn.

5 km from the historic center is the Marina, famous for the Versiliana theater season, for its long sandy beaches, characterized by a safe sea suitable for families with children. The breeze that characterizes the entire coast has made it famous for seaside activities such as surfing and sailing. Marked for hotels, restaurants and nightclubs.

A beautiful cycle path connects Marina di Pietrasanta to all the seaside resorts.

Forte dei Marmi

Forte dei Marmi is one of the towns in Versilia located on the Tyrrhenian coast. Famous both in winter and summer for luxury shopping. An important theatrical and musical season takes place in the historic Villa Bertelli.

Typical restaurants are: Bistrot, Osteria del Mare, Tre Stelle Lorenzo and last but not least, a few meters from the border of Montignoso on the seafront, the new Alpe Mare restaurant by the great Maestro Andrea Bocelli.

The cycle paths that cross the whole town make cycling ideal, both for getting around the center and on the coast. There are numerous bicycle rentals, for example the historic “Cicli Maggi” has city bikes, mountain bikes, racing or pedal-assisted bicycles. Other rentals are: Cicli Santini or Cicli Coppa. Children’s bicycles can also be rented, the price depends not only on the brands but also on the models rented. From the jetty of Forte dei Marmi, where you can admire the panorama of the Apuan Alps, ferries leave every day and reach the 5 Terre in 1 hour.

Northern Tuscany is a strategic starting point for all travellers, then and now. From here one can easily visit the Cinque Terre, art cities such as Lucca, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, Pietrasanta. It is located only 5 km away from the most popular seaside and artistic towns in the area, such as Forte dei Marmi, famous for its beaches and nightlife, and Pietrasanta, known throughout the world for its art and gastronomy, named “little Athens” by Botero and Mitoraj.

Perfect starting point to visit Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Cinque Terre. The area is famous for the possibility to go for long walks amidst luxurious uncontaminated nature, and it is crossed by the well-known Via Francigena. Guests can try various activities nearby, such as windsurfing, horse-riding, golfing, biking and fishing.

Bicycles are available for rent at the cottage (please remember to book beforehand). Nearby there are cafés, small grocery stores, self-service laundromats, post office, and the Monte Pepe hospital.
